Transitioning from Nap Time to Quiet Time
When your child outgrows their afternoon nap, they still need downtime to rest and recharge. Introduce the idea of spending their nap time doing a quiet activity in their room. Make sure these toys and activities are only available during Quiet Time, and that you rotate their choices to keep them fresh and interesting.
Welcoming a New Baby
When welcoming a new baby into the family, your toddler is sure to have big feelings about that. Make them feel important and take them on special outings that the baby does not get to do. Having a special box with toys that only come out when mom or dad is busy with the baby is a great way for the toddler to feel special, while also giving you much needed one-on-one time with baby.
Working from Home
This is no easy task! Young children crave attention and may not understand why you cannot devote your attention to them 24/7. Make a schedule and plan for time to play together, and time for your child to play independently so you can focus on other tasks. If you can give your child your undivided attention before asking them to play independently, you will have more success. Their emotional needs will be met and they will be less likely to disrupt you as you work.
